Cane Corso Temperament

Cane Corso Temperament

A Cane Corso temperament is in my opinion that can be easily predicted. These dogs are very loyal, want nothing more than to please their owner or family. This temperament is something that has been bred into them and dates back thousands of years. There is evidence that these dogs were often responsible for baby sitting young children in the residential courtyards in Ancient Rome. These dogs adore children of all ages and play with a natural awareness to their size, I am always amazed when I see my 1 year old son near my dogs and how they handle and change their physical stature to make sure they do not bump into my son. These guardians are also easy to obedience train, but will require strong leadership and heavy socialization to mold their dominant personalities.

The Cane Corso has been used since ancient times in work, protection, and family companionship. On the farms, protecting a flock comes natural to them as well as baying and baiting hog and cattle. They are also very powerful hunters of large and or game. They have been successfully used in protection sports and guardian duties. In the home they are very calm, loving, and playful with their family.

Cane Corso Temperament – Guardian Instinct

A Cane Corso is highly suspicious of new people and aggressive behavior should never be encouraged or rewarded if no threat is present. This suspicion is always present even after proper training, but it is molded to understand the difference between friend and stranger. Protection training with the Cane Corso is not necessary, nor is it recommended.  Protection of family and property is natural to the Cane Corso. The Cane Corso are also a quiet breed that typically only barks when there is a reason. For the owner not afraid to take control this is the perfect dog  and I feel is the most intelligent breed and best all around large dog for the family.

Helping To Build The Cane Corso Temperament

One way to help build your dogs temperament is to begin when he or she is a puppy. Begin by petting the dog while the dog is eating. The next step is to begin playing with your puppies food. This will allow the puppy to see you are clearly the boss and it will begin to accept disturbances as a part of its overall lifestyle.. Try these easy to do tips and you will be very impressed to watch your puppy grow into a patient Dog.

Here is a good example of  the Cane Corso Temperament  in a video with my son. You will see Chiara understands perfectly that my son is young and is often goofy. Chiara would have stayed and endured my sons games  longer, except she heard a pot and thought she was getting a treat.
